iSOFT Group plc is mindful of the increasing importance of environmental issues and recognises that all human activity interacts in some way, either directly or indirectly with the environment. As a result, the group now considers environmental awareness to be an integral part of business management and fully accepts its responsibility to raise awareness, establish standards, assess the impact of its business activities on the environment, set improvement objectives and monitor performance against these objectives.
As a leading provider of technology-led information solutions to the healthcare sector, iSOFT operates only office facilities. Production processes performed by employees within the group comprise the design and development of software products and other intellectual property. These activities involve neither hazardous substances nor complex waste emissions. The group therefore considers its activities to have a low environmental impact but does, however, recognise that improvements can always be targeted in respect of normal daily operating activities. This environmental policy has been designed with due consideration to the characteristics of the group activities, defining the following as its key principles:
understanding and complying with all relevant legislation, as a minimum
understanding the resources consumed by the Group and the waste products created
targeting environmentally friendly resources
seeking out ways of achieving more efficient use of resources such as paper, energy and water
aiming to reduce the amount of waste produced and, where waste is unavoidable to ensure its safe and effective disposal
fostering a sense of environmental responsibility among employees, suppliers and customers.
This environmental policy is subject to regular review and is communicated to all employees and other interested parties. Responsibility for maintaining this policy resides at board level.
