iSOFT delivers LORENZO for deployment London, 16 June 2004 – Accenture and iSOFT have recently finalised an agreement under which iSOFT will provide core clinical and administrative information systems and services to Accenture as part of Accenture's role as the North East and East local service provider for the National Health Service (NHS) National Programme for IT (NPfIT). Additionally, the first release of iSOFT's LORENZO application solution was delivered to Accenture in April. A set of information processing tools promoting governance, quality, efficiency and consent in healthcare, LORENZO facilitates the free flow of information among the entire healthcare community, including general practitioners, hospitals and patients. As Accenture deploys LORENZO across the two regions, the software's unified architecture will form the basis of solutions tailored to meet local requirements and information needs of healthcare professionals. Accenture was awarded two long-term contracts last December to design, deliver and operate integrated local patient record applications and systems for the two regions as part of the NPfIT. By later this year clinicians should begin to see benefits of the new systems, such as electronic patient information and access to related healthcare services. Other benefits that should follow are the electronic exchange of patient information between primary and in-hospital care providers, electronic order entry and results reporting. "This is a significant step toward fulfilling our commitment to deliver an integrated care records service for individuals in the East and North East," said Ken Lacey, global managing partner of Accenture's Health & Life Sciences practice. "Ultimately, this service will enable the NHS provide the right information to patients and clinicians at the right time." "This release of LORENZO demonstrates our ability to produce comprehensive, leading-edge healthcare applications for delivery by third-party organisations," said Tim Whiston, CEO of iSOFT. "We are delighted to work with Accenture to deliver an application service that supports the information management requirements of an entire health community." For more information please contact: |
