iSOFT Group plc, leader in the provision of advanced application solutions in modern healthcare economies around the world, was recognised as the leading business in the North West at the Regional Final of the National Business Awards. In recognition of its exceptional financial returns, strong growth, and innovative strategies, plus market leadership in the healthcare IT sector, Manchester-based iSOFT topped all other entrants in the North West. The National Business Awards, sponsored by Orange, considered amongst other criteria iSOFT’s significant growth since flotation five years ago. The healthcare applications expert recently announced turnover of £262.0m for the year ended 30 April 2005, an increase of 75.5% from 2004. Through strategic acquisition and development of its core product offering LORENZO, iSOFT has firmly established itself as the fourth largest software and computer services company on the London Stock Exchange. The aim of the Awards is to recognise excellence, best practice and innovation throughout the UK business community. An independent panel of judges looked for evidence of commercial success, innovation in performance improvement, and ethics in respect of legislation, regulation, the environment and the rights of all stakeholders. Across all the regions, finalist companies boasted over £30bn in sales, employed almost a quarter of a million people and produced over £7bn in profit. Adrian Tripp, CEO, National Business Awards said, “Reaching this level of the competition is truly a great achievement. To win Business of the Year in an extended region, against cross-sector competition, is something of which to be extremely proud.” “Winning Business of the Year is an important public acknowledgement of the strength and success of iSOFT’s business strategy,” commented iSOFT Chief Executive Officer Tim Whiston. “Demand for our strategic application LORENZO, continues to drive forward our growth as a leader in the global healthcare IT market.” iSOFT’s innovative software applications not only computerise patient notes, they extend the reach of healthcare information across entire health communities, so that all the information about patient care is available wherever needed on one central up to date system.
