iSOFT technology chosen by Bayer HealthCare AG | |||||||||

LabCentre technology developed by iSOFT Deutschland GmbH has been installed at the Global Drug Discovery unit of Bayer HealthCare AG. The iSOFT group of companies is among the world's five leading suppliers of information technology for the healthcare sector. The iSOFT laboratory management solution is being integrated into the entire workflow chain at Bayer HealthCare AG's facility at Wuppertal, from the initial planning stage through to laboratory work and the documentation of human studies. This is the first time that the LabCentre technology has been installed in the research department of a pharmaceutical concern. The laboratory software has been in use for many years in hospitals in Germany, where it is the market leader. In contrast with the way it is used in the hospital sector, at Bayer HealthCare AG LabCentre is also being incorporated for the first time into the planning process for repeat research. Before the final decision was taken to buy the technology, a trial version was installed and subjected to intensive testing. It was found to fulfil all the customer requirements, including the stringent quality requirements of the Bayer audit procedure. The installation of LabCentre at Bayer HealthCare AG also involved integrating it closely with an information and management system for clinical studies. The highly flexible architecture of LabCentre makes it easy to adapt to a wide range of requirements. iSOFT will make the software available to other research establishments if required.
