Waikato DHB hops into iSOFT’s client administration system over Easter break | |||||
|
Over the Easter break iSOFT has installed a new client administration system, i.Patient Manager (i.PM), and later this month will extend the iSOFT HealthViews Clinical Workstation at the 600-bed Waikato Hospital and four district hospitals as part of its $3.8m contract with New Zealand’s Waikato District Health Board (WDHB).
iSOFT’s i.PM replaces WDHB’s current client administration system, giving staff ready access to full electronic patient records. From today, staff at the DHB’s hospitals, mental health facilities and other outreach services around Waikato will use iSOFT’s i.PM for all client administration activities. The HealthViews extended Clinical Data Repository (CDR), using over 15 years of client records, will enable clinicians to view current clinical data in the context of the complete patient clinical history. The extended features will improve the management of client care resources across 1,000 beds and more than 1,000 clinicians. Last year WDHB carried out 20,887 surgical procedures, 74,525 emergency visits and 3,522 births, as well as over 320,000 outpatient and community visits. Alan Grainer, WDHB’s Chief Information Officer, said: “The iSOFT solution brings us a modern application and technology. We can start consolidating information from all of our hospital and community systems to provide a complete record for each patient. Access to integrated patient records will reduce the time spent searching for patient notes, eliminate duplication and provide more timely, complete and accurate information to clinicians to support them in making diagnostic, treatment and management decisions. The overall result is better quality patient care.” iSOFT Australia and New Zealand’s Managing Director, Nigel Lutton, said: “The combination of i.PM with HealthViews is a valuable solution for organisations like the WDHB. The provision of an integrated electronic client management and clinical care record across multiple care settings significantly supports the health board and ministry initiatives to deliver better care to patients across a regional population and with improved workplace outcomes for staff. It also promotes the sharing and exchange of critical care information across the diverse care settings within the health board.” WDHB is a long-standing customer and uses a range of iSOFT applications for administration, laboratory, pharmacy and radiology. Deployment of the HealthViews Clinical Workstation has been incrementally expanding over the past three years. The introduction of the extended CDR will provide clinicians with the full client record history and delivers more comprehensive event details including referral details, future bookings, waiting list entries, outpatient appointments, emergency department visits, community visits and hospital admissions. WDHB becomes the 14th (of 21) district health boards in New Zealand to use iSOFT’s patient management systems. It is also one of eight district health boards in New Zealand operating iSOFT’s HealthViews. For further information, please contact: |
