NHS Connecting for Health has awarded iSOFT a contract to provide clinical systems and services to GPs across England under its GP Systems of Choice (GPSoC) initiative.
iSOFT’s Synergy and Premiere solutions are now available nationally through the GPSoC contract. iSOFT is one of eight suppliers awarded a contract under GPSoC. GPs in England now have the option of a system from their Local Service Provider (LSP) or keeping their existing system, which will be upgraded in line with the National Programme for IT requirements. Paul Richards, iSOFT’s UK and Ireland managing director, said: “This is a clear indication of our commitment to supporting our customers and securing their existing investments. “Our customers can now retain their Synergy and Premiere solutions with the assurance that they will be developed to national standards with guaranteed service levels. And, it enables other GPs to select iSOFT and iSOFT applications on merit and for sound business reasons.” As part of its proposed Level 4 hosted solution in England, iSOFT will adopt virtualisation technology to partition and maintain separate databases for each GP practice. The technology offers superior performance and reliability and added security. “With our hosted solution, PCTs can group their GP practices on the one server with individual databases, while having management-level access for clinical audit and performance management purposes,” Richards said.
