iSOFT Spain has won two contracts worth a total of €1.35 million with the public healthcare services of Andalusia and the Balearic Islands, with both customers extending their current agreements with the company.
The Andalusian healthcare service (SAS) has renewed its contract for maintenance at 16 hospitals for another year in a deal worth €750,000. In addition, the Balearic Islands healthcare service (IB-SALUT) has awarded iSOFT a €600,000 contract extension to roll out its e-prescription solution to all primary care centres and pharmacies in Mallorca and Menorca. Andalusia The contract extension with the SAS is for the support, development and preventative maintenance of a range of iSOFT applications at hospitals across Andalusia’s regional healthcare service. The initial project was awarded in 2006 and this latest order brings the total value of the work to €2.25 million. The contract covers 16 of the 28 hospitals operated by the SAS across the Andalusia region. Some hospitals have one iSOFT application while others have the full range. These include x-HIS (patient management), e-HC (electronic patient record), x-GPC (clinical order management) and departmental solutions such as PAT-Win (pathology), x-UC (intensive care), x-LOG (logistics), x-LAB (laboratory) and x-FARMA (pharmacy). Antonio Castillo, iSOFT Spain’s Strategic Accounts Director, said: “This maintenance contract extension is very important for iSOFT and clearly demonstrates that we continue to provide a first-class service and innovative solutions for public hospitals in the Andalusia region.” Balearic Islands The Balearic Islands healthcare service (IB-SALUT) has awarded iSOFT a €600,000 contract extension to roll out its e-prescription solution to all primary care centres and pharmacies in Mallorca and Menorca, following a successful, award-winning project in Ibiza and Formentera. The total value of this project is €1.7 million after iSOFT won an initial €1.1 million order in 2006. The e-prescription solution eliminates paper and so saves time, avoids mistakes and improves the monitoring of treatment. It also provides prescribing rules, a recommended list of drugs and automation of payments. Roll-out to the 43 primary care centres in Mallorca will be completed this month and in the five centres in Menorca by December. Ultimately, the solution will be installed at the 55 health centres and 411 pharmacies across the four Balearic Islands for a population of 1.2 million people. The latest phase follows successful projects at seven primary care centres in Ibiza and Formentera. During the six-month pilot, the application was used for over 27,500 prescriptions out of nearly 34,500 prescriptions dispensed. In March this year, the project won the Correo Farmacéutico magazine award for best technology initiative, having won in March of last year the ComputerWorld magazine award for its positive impact on the local population. Antonio Castillo said: “We have worked very closely with IB-SALUT since 2004 in helping it develop an electronic patient record for primary care and improve services to the people of the Balearic Islands. We are the preferred supplier of primary care systems and our e-SIAP solution is installed at all IB-SALUT’s primary care centres, so it is very gratifying to also participate in the e-prescription implementation, an innovative project led by IB-SALUT that will serve as model for other autonomous regions.” For further information, please contact: |
